Apple cider vinegar for weight loss: It won’t PREVENT obesity unless you do THIS

Apple cider vinegar has become popular in recent years for a multitude of benefits - from helping control diabetes to heart disease prevention.

Fans include Jennifer Aniston, who consumes it every morning alongside her vitamins.

Its ability to aid weight loss, however, is perhaps the principal reason for its passionate following.

However, it can only help you slim down - and combat conditions like obesity - if you take it consistently for a long period.

An expert told Men’s Health US that you need to take apple cider vinegar for at least three months to see a difference.

Carol Johnston, from Arizona State University, explained that it will take this long for the pounds to healthily come off.

Having studied the weight loss benefits of the vinegar, she warned that it won’t provide an instant change.

However, there is evidence that if you stick with it, it should work.

The vinegar contains acetic acid that has fat-burning properties.

It influences your fat metabolism so that it directs your body to use fat as a form of energy rather than storing it.

But in order for this to work, you need to consume it alongside a diet containing starchy foods, like potatoes or rice.

This is because, Johnston explained to Men’s Health US, it slows down digestion of the starch which keeps you feeling fuller for longer.

Sipping a couple of tablespoons of apple cider before breakfast has become the most popular way to consume it.

It has grown from wellness trend to health staple in recent years.

This is thanks to suggestions by experts it can reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and therefore lower the risk of heart attack.

Additionally, it is helpful for helping manage blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes patients.
