Digestive problems? These 5p a day supplements could cure bloating

Bloating can be painful and inconvenient, and it may feel like a persistent sensation of fullness, according to the NHS.

Constipation may be causing your bloating – where your poo is dry, hard or lumpy.

Excess wind, food intolerance and swallowing air may also be causing your bloating.

But, the probiotic supplement Lactobacillus acidophilus could prevent bloating and lower your cholesterol, it’s been claimed.

“Lactobacillus acidophilus relieves gas, bloating and improves lactose intolerance,” said nutritionist Dr Josh Axe.

“It’s shown to help with a 61 per cent reduction in E. coli, lower cholesterol levels and creation of vitamin K.”

The supplement could also helps to protect the gut from ‘bad’ bacteria, studies have claimed.

Taking the probiotic everyday will lower your risk of heart disease by between six and 10 per cent, too, scientists revealed.

You could also increase your Lactobacillus acidophilus intake by eating more fermented foods and yogurt.

Probiotics are ‘good’ bacteria that live in your gut.

They support the body in absorbing nutrients, and fight off harmful bacteria.

Not getting enough probiotics can lead to digestive disorders, autoimmune diseases and flu.

Cutting back on some foods could help to prevent bloating, the NHS said.

Beans, onions, broccoli and cabbage all increase your risk of painful bloating.

Talking with your mouth full of food may also lead to the condition.

Chewing gum and drinking fizzy drinks have been linked to bloating.
