Best supplements to fight colds: Mollie King takes a daily shot of THIS to boost immunity

With the cold weather now well and truly upon us, warding off bugs can seem like even more of a challenge.

However, Mollie King, who is currently starring on Strictly Come Dancing, has revealed that she enlists particular supplements to help stay well.

The singer said in an interview that she takes a ginger shot every day, along with Berocca and echinacea.

“It’s worked so far, and I haven’t been ill once,” she told the Daily Mail.

“In fact, what with all the training we do – around 12 hours a day – I have actually never felt fitter.”

Berocca is a brand of multivitamin that is said to improve mental performance and physical stamina.

It contains B vitamins and vitamin C, as well as calcium, magnesium and zinc.

Echinacea is a herb commonly taken to tackle flu and colds.

“It can help ward off winter colds by increasing the effectiveness with which your immune system recognises and deals with the bacteria and viruses that enter your body, preventing them from triggering an illness,” explained Dr Marilyn Glenville, a nutritionist.

“The anti-viral action of echinacea is one of its most exciting aspects, making it an ideal remedy for flu.”

Similarly, ginger has immune system-boosting properties.

“It is renowned for supporting your body’s natural immune defences,” said Cassandra Barns, a nutritionist.

“Ginger may be taken in the winter as a precautionary against winter bugs, or also as a therapeutic agent in times of illnesses and infections.

“It is also known for supporting the health of the respiratory system.

“Ginger has been used for decades for bronchial health and helps your respiratory to maintain optimal secretions and normal functions of airways.”
